overwhelm v. (感情或感觉)充溢；难以禁受
对于这个词大家比较熟悉的词义可能是“
充满某种感情/感觉”
，其实，它还有另一层含义是“压倒，击溃”，
这层含义经常出现在战争题材的电影中，例如《狂怒》中，就出现过：It was clear that one massive Allied offensive would overwhelm the weakened enemy.
毫无疑问，盟军一次大规模的进攻就会击溃已是强弩之末的敌军。
adequate a. 充足的
在这里大家做一个关于sufficient, adequate, enough 的词义辨析：
1.sufficient a. 充足的，
同 enough，常可互换使用。Sufficient research evidence exists to support this contention.
有足够的调查证据支持这个观点。
2.Enough 足够的，指数量多，足够满足某种目的或愿望。
可放在被修饰名词后，且可作副词，sufficient则不可这么用。下面这个例句中 enough 就作为副词修饰动词：Career planning is a multi-step process that involves learning enough about yourself and the occupations which you are considering in order to make an informed decision.
职业规划是一个包括很多步骤的过程，包括充分地了解自己，了解你正在考虑的职业，这样才能做出深谋远虑的抉择。
3.adequate充足的，指数量多，适合需要的数量。

sufficient
指数量多，足够满足某种需要，在口语中常用enough
, 在书面语中常用sufficient
，在不易肯定时多用enough
。The space available is not adequate for our needs.
现有的空间不能满足我们的需要。
equip v. 装备；有能力。这个词有两个固定搭配需要积累：是
1.be equipped to
，意为“有能力做…… ”
我们看一下题目中是如何使用的吧：There is a gap in working-class jobs, but the workers who need those jobs most aren’t equipped to do them.
工人阶级的工作存在差距，但最需要这些工作的工人没有能力做这些工作。
2.equip with/be equipped with
意为“装备……”
How do we equip our people with the skills and training to do those jobs?

almost，nearly， practicallyThese three words have similar meanings and are used frequently with the following words. 上述三个近义词常与下列词语连用：
practically多用于口语，少用于书面语。nearly最常与数字连用：

almost和practically均可用于any、anybody、anything等词前：
